Welcome to Aurora Building Performance. My goal is to help my clients in building high performance buildings, which is essentially what green building is about. We are also prepared to help interpret the various Green Building Ordinances that have sprung up around CA. ABP wants to make the process as painless as possible and we believe the results will lead to more comfortable homes. Not to mention improved energy efficiency, water conservation, and Indoor air quality.
Recognizing the need to quantify the relative "greeness" of a project organizations like Build It Green and CHEERS have developed systems for rating and even measuring specific elements which can then be verified and certified. In doing this it is like the "Good Housekeeping" seal of approval intended to give the consumer confidence that the stated measures are actually there and installed properly.
Many Municipalities are adopting the GreenPoint Rated system as a way of incorporating green building principles into the permit process. A motivating factor behind this is the mandate to reduce green house gas(GHG) emissions to 1990 levels in assembly bill AB32. It has been determined that buildings are a large contributor to GHG, 30% according to the DOE. This reduction is primarily achieved by energy conservation. Additional benefits of these techniques are the reduction of, waste, water consumption, resource depletion, while improving Indoor air quality, comfort, and community.
